Group Updates

YoucanperformupdatesongroupsofdevicesthatarecategorizedintoMobileDevice

Groups.

To perform a group update:

1 FromtheAvalancheConsoleInventorytab,clickthenameofthemobiledevicegroupyou

wanttoupdateintheMobileDeviceGroupspane.

2 Enablethecheckboxtotheleftofthedeviceordevicesthatyouwanttoupdate.

3 ClickUpdate.

TheUpdate Nowdialogboxappears.

• EnabletheAllow User to Override the Updateoptionifyouwanttogivethemobile

deviceusertheoptiontodecidewhentheinstallationtakesplace.Ifthisoptionis

enabled,theusercanselecttoinstalltheupdateimmediatelyordelaytheinstallation

byminutes,hoursordays.

• EnabletheForce Package Synchronizationoptionifyouwantthemobiledeviceserver

toverifytheexistenceandstateofeachfileofeachpackageindividuallyratherthan

consultingthemeta-file,whichwouldnormallyprovideinformationonthosefiles.

• EnabletheDelete Orphan Packagesoptionifyouwanttoremoveorphanpackages

fromthemobiledevice.

4 ClickOK.

Theselecteddevicegroupwillupdateaccordingtothemethodyouselected.Whena

deviceisup-to-date,theMobileDeviceInventoryliststhedeviceasUpdated.

Scheduled Update

Ascheduledupdateiswhenthemobiledeviceserverisconfiguredtocontactmobiledevices

ataspecifictimeandsendanyavailableupdates.

Scheduledupdatesareconfiguredinthemobiledeviceserverprofile.Onceyouconfigurethe

schedulefromtheAvalancheConsoleandupdatethemobiledeviceserver,theserverwill

updateyourmobiledevicesaccordingtothesettings.

Whenyouconfigureamobiledeviceserverupdate,youhavethefollowingoptions:

• Event Type.Youcanselectaone-timeevent,arecurringevent,orapost-synchronization

event.Apost-synchronizationeventwilltakeplaceaftereachsynchronizationbetweenthe
