Removing Packages from Devices

TheAvalancheConsolewillremovesoftwarepackagesfromdevicesthroughanupdate.This

canbeasingle-device,group,orscheduledupdate.

Asoftwarepackagewillonlyberemovedfromadeviceduringanupdateifthesoftware

packagehasbeenorphanedandyouhaveselectedtheDelete orphan packages option.A

softwarepackageisconsideredanorphanpackageifitmeetsanyofthefollowingcriteria:

• ThesoftwarepackagehasbeendisabledintheAvalancheConsole.

• ThesoftwarepackagehasbeendeletedinAvalancheConsole.

• Themobiledeviceservertowhichadevicereportshasnorecordofthesoftware

package.(Forexample,ifadeviceismigratedtoanewserverandthedevicehas

softwarepackagesinstalledthatarenotpartofthenewAvalancheConsole

configuration.)

To delete a software package from a mobile device:

• Ensurethepackageisorphaned(disabledordeletedfromtheappropriatesoftware

profile).Thenupdatethemobiledevice,ensuringthattheDelete Orphan Packagesoption

isenabled.

Configuring the Terminal ID Settings

ThemobiledeviceserverassignseachdeviceaterminalIDthefirsttimethatthedevice

communicateswiththemobiledeviceserver.Setarangeofnumbersfortheservertouse,and

itwillassigntheminorder.Alternately,youcanuseaC-styleformattoconfigurespecific

terminalIDs.

ThefollowingoptionsareavailablewhenconfiguringtheterminalID:

• Terminal ID lower bound.SpecifythelowestterminalIDthatthemobiledeviceserver

willassignamobiledevice.

• Terminal ID upper bound.SpecifythehighestterminalIDthatthemobiledeviceserver

willassignamobiledevice.

• Optional Template.UseaC-styleformattoallowthemobiledeviceservertoassign

alphanumericIDs.
